Creative/Art Direction for a new brand of wood veneers and panels packaged for artists and crafters. The use of wood grain photography was incorporated into the newly designed branding system to inspire the consumer to try a new surface for their projects.
Creative/Art Direction, new logo and branding for Art Alternatives canvas. The new packaging system is intended to appeal to artists and crafters by offering clear information and explanation of size, material weight, and intended use. The three color ways represent three levels of quality: economy for crafting and sketching, classic for most uses, and heavy for archival work or heavy paint loads.
The SMart line of Art Alternatives was created to be a grouped display of sets - watercolors, markers, pastels, etc. - for consumers who are just starting to explore art materials for specific craft projects. The Art Alternatives branding was adjusted to reflect a fun attitude and friendly price to appeal to kids and casual hobby users.
KINSHO is a line of cloth bound, archival photo albums sold at Paper-Source and other retailers. I collaborated with the product development team to name the line, select color ways, and create the logo, brand story and packaging. The albums were made by a Japanese vendor using Japanese bookbinding traditions. KINSHO means 'gold prize' in Japanese, and we liked that the function of the albums is to create a 'kin show' (I love puns!). The bright gold foil with the KINSHO character makes expresses a classic, quality design.
